Virtual ice breakers9/11/2023 Think of it this way – while someone may be hesitant to answer a silly question, everyone is answering that same silly question. For nervous or more reserved employees, it can help them get their voice heard in a situation where there is no right or wrong answer, no consequence. While everyone might not love icebreaker activities, they serve a purpose. We do not have to dive into our deep dark secrets before discussing our summer product launch, but that is not the only definition of connection! Remember: There is plenty of surface-level information that we can learn about each other that will still help us feel more connected. If your team feels safe and heard, they will be more open to sharing knowledge and expertise and helping one another. If you want your team to share their ideas and thoughts that can further your business, they need to feel like they can speak up, like they have a voice. When our employees feel connected, they feel they are part of the wider work community and network. This is easier when your team feels comfortable with one another and when they have developed a relationship. We want our collaboration to be meaningful and productive. This can be achieved for virtual teams, but it has to be far more intentional. These are topics that just come up, and they allow us a little insight into the people we spend a large portion of our time with. Maybe it is their daily coffee order or what they did at the weekend. To connect over the mundane? Whether you are a remote team or a hybrid team returning to the office, icebreakers can help your team feel more at ease and relaxed! How can icebreakers help your remote team? Many of our events, meetings, training sessions and even our own KraftyLab team building workshops begin with an icebreaker. It also shows your team that you encourage fun, as long as it’s productive and done in the right ways. They can help break down barriers and create a more connected environment. A tool used to spark conversation, welcome participants, and engage a room. Using virtual icebreakers can help anyone, including those who are struggling to figure out how to maintain or build relationships while working remotely.
